A heartwarming footage of a disabled man getting out of a wheelchair to rescue a helpless kitten is making waves on social media.

It was a normal Saturday afternoon for Abu Fathiyyaturahma Menk Abdun Mujtahid.

The 36-year-old from Sabah, Malaysia, was heading to the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex, where he trains, when he spotted a tiny creature stuck in a sewer.

Initially he didn’t realize what it could be, but on a second check he was sure there was a kitten fighting for its life. It was then that Abu knew he had to do something.

Although he “didn’t have the use of his legs,” the brave fellow just got out of his wheelchair and headed straight for the drain and he pulled the poor little thing out.

The whole scene was filmed by Abu’s friend, who is also disabled, reports MNN News

«We saw the kitten stuck there and knew we couldn’t leave him. I decided to get the kitten myself because it would be more dangerous for my friend who uses prosthetic legs,” Abu told local media.

“The banks of the drain were steep parts and the summer is not level, so it was difficult to negotiate. But I’m glad we were able to help the cat.

Abu said he was extremely proud and happy to be able to help the kitten. And at the end, he even joked about it, saying, «I hope the kitten has learned its lesson and stays out of harm’s way.» »
